Audrey Griffis, 77 years old of Greenville MS., passed away suddenly on the morning of Saturday July 5, 2014 at her home in Greenville, MS. In continuing celebration of her life her funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday July 9, 2014 at Smith Funeral Home in Greenville, MS. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenville Cemetery.

Audrey was born Nov. 2, 1936 in Forrest City, Arkansas to Thomas & Katie Calvert. She grew up as a young girl in Forrest City where she attended school. She moved to Memphis, TN as a young woman with her family where she graduated high school. Audrey moved to Greenville from Southaven, , Mississippi, in 1973. She bought The Beauty Shoppe on Reed Road in 2002 and worked there as both owner and nail technician until she closed the shop in October 2013. It was a buzzing, social hub during its years of business. Audrey made countless friends here, all whom she loved dearly.

Audrey loved cooking and made her kitchen the heart of her home. She loved history and was a student of it her entire life. She loved her country. But she reserved her greatest love and passion for The Lord and her family, for whom she sacrificed selflessly her entire life.

Audrey overcame many trials and struggles in her life, and was an example of wisdom, strength, and courage to everyone who knew her, especially her family. She lived a life of love and acceptance, and made her home a refuge for those in need. Audrey’s selfless works continue on in the lives of her loved ones, family and friends, who honor her by continuing the legacy she leaves behind.

Decades ago, Audrey Griffis received a word from God and modeled her life by it. That word was the full chapter of Psalms 112.

She leaves behind three children, her daughters, Angie (Eddie) Sewell of Greenville, MS & Vicki (Steve) Mitchell of La Center, WA., her son, Johnny (Lisa) Griffis Jr. of Oxford, MS.,, five grandchildren, Lee Blaylock, Eddie Sewell, Derek Sewell, Tyler Sewell, & Peter Griffis, one great grandson, Peyton Sewell, her older brother, Gene Calvert of Little Rock, AR., her sister, Ruth Coffey of Phoenix, AZ. She also leaves behind many cousins, great nieces & nephews.

Her grandson Lee Blaylock will officiate the services.
