Funeral services for David “Sonny” Westrope JR. 80 years old of Greenville, MS will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday August 12, 2014 at Smith Funeral Home. He died Saturday August 9, 2014 at his home. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenville Cemetery.
“Sonny” was born Sept. 24, 1933 in Greenville, MS to David & Mary Westrope. He was a life long resident of the delta where he grew up and attended school and graduated high school at Benoit High School. He was a professional truck driver and drove a mail truck for W.E. Graham for many years until he retired. Prior to driving a mail truck for Graham, he was in the mobile home business. As a young man he had his pilot’s license which he obtained through Abide Areo. He was preceded in death by his parents, David Sr. & Mary Westrope. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Vallie Jean Westrope of Greenville, MS., his son & daughter in law, David Westrope III & his wife Vivian of Greenville, MS., his sister, Mary Doris Cameron of Rawl Springs, MS. & his grandson David Victor Westrope of Greenville, MS.
Rev. Jon Beane will officiate the services.
