Funeral services for Earl Summerlin, 87 years old of Greenville, MS. will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday December 07, 2014 at Smith Funeral Home in Greenville, MS. MR. Summerlin was called home to be with the lord on December 03, 2014 in Greenville; MS. Visitation will be Sunday December 07, 2014 from 1-2 P.M. at Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Summerlin was born May 29, 1927 to Mr. Monroe & Hattie Summerlin in Kosciusko, MS, where he was raised until joining the Army. Mr. Summerlin was a U.S. Army Vet Serving 4 years earning rank Corporal, as well as a U.S. Air Force Vet Serving 23 years earning rank Staff Sargent. He served in the Korean War and was awarded the “Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars”, the “United Nations Service Medal”, the “Combat Infantryman’s Badge”, the “National Defense Service Medal”. When Mr. Summerlin was stationed in Germany he received the “Army Occupational Medal” as well as the “Good Conduct Medal”. Mr. Summerlin was a family man who vigorously supported his country and was prepared to defend it against enemies or anyone who would harm his family or country. That is the definition of a Patriot and that is exactly who Earl was. Mr. Summerlin also worked for the Greenville Water Department for many years until he retired. In his spare time Mr. Summerlin played golf at the Greenville Municipal Golf Club in which he was a member for over 30years.Also Early along with his brother and siters had a band called “The Mississippians” and was on the radio quiet frequently. Earl was a Godly man who lived his life to the fullest and loved his family, his children, and grandchildren with all his heart. He is preceded in death by his parents Monroe & Hattie Summerlin, 2 Brothers, Melvin & K.C., 4 Sisters, Earlene Palmertree, Onie Belk, Ernie Faye Bennett and Mary Dell Buckelew.

He is Survived by his loving wife of 26 years Jane Summerlin of Greenville, MS, 2 Sons, Steve Summerlin Huggins and his wife Ruth of Haslet, TX, Jimmy Coleman of Greenville, MS., 6 Daughters, Lisa Summerlin Jones of Eden, North Carolina, Michele Summerlin Aust of Bailey, MS, Carolyn Pennix of Sierra Vista, AZ, Barbara Coleman of Slidell, LA, Gladys Coleman of Nashville, TN, and Kathy Allegrezza of Greenville, MS., 17 Grandchildren, Stephanie, Kelli, Richard III, Brock, Audrey, Chance, Mitchell, Brad, Chase, Brandy, Chastity, Christy, Russ, Jessica, Deborah, Jennifer, Adam., as well as 27 precious Great Grandchildren.
