Funeral services for Marion R. “M. R.” Williams II, 83 years old of Greenville will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday Dec. 17, 2014 at Smith Funeral Home. He died Saturday Dec. 13, 2014 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be Tuesday Dec. 16, 2014 from 6-8 P.M. at Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery in Glen Allan.

M.R. was born August 30, 1931 in Greenville, MS to Lucien & Flora Williams. He grew in Glen Allan, MS where he was raised on Solitare Plantation by his grandmother, Mary Buckner Head Williams and attended school in Glen Allan. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during the Korean War. He served 25 years & 3 months with the Greenville Police Dept. retiring as Captain. He also served 9 years with the Leland Police Dept. & also served with the Washington County Sheriff Dept. He also farmed for 23 years. He was a member of the V.F.W. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucien & Flora Williams & his grandparents.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Ann Williams of Greenville, MS., 2 sons, M.R. “Bubba” Williams III (Shirley) of Greenville, MS.& Randy Williams (Laurie) of Tracy, CA., 4 daughters, Ky Stubblefield of Batesville, MS, Susan Williams of Horn Lake, MS., Sandy Tidwell (Mike) of Horn Lake, MS. & Monica Cruthirds (Lyn) of Memphis, TN., 10 grandchildren, Shannon, Clint, Candace, Clay, Caleb, Jacob, Hope, Hayley , Emma & Eli & 3 great grandchildren.
