Funeral services for Herman “Buddy” Wilson, 90 years old of Leland, MS will be 3:30 P.M., Saturday January 10, 2015 at Smith Funeral Home. He was called home to be with the Lord January 7, 2015 in Jackson; MS. Visitation will be from 2:30-3:30 P.M. Saturday January 10, 2015 at Smith Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the Green lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Buddy was born August 08, 1924 in Dancy, MS to Robert & Merle Wilson where he grew up and graduated from Cumberland High School. After High School, Buddy went on to join The United States Navy in 1944. He served on the U.S.S. CONYNGHAM Destroyer during WWII. After being Honorably Discharged in 1946 he moved to Leland, MS, where he married the love of his life Palmina “Polly” Wilson. Buddy was a member of the Lions Club, The American Legion, as well as The Telephone Pioneers of America. He had been a Scout Leader for the Boy Scouts of America for many years. Buddy was also was an avid hunter as well as an avid fisherman. Buddy was a people person who never met a stranger. No matter where you were or who you were with Buddy more than likely, knew them or their family. Buddies inherent kindness was evident to everyone he met, and he dedicated his life to making Mississippi a better place to live for his family and friends. Buddy was a man of integrity who loved God, family and friends. His kindness and dedication to his principles were models we should all strive toward, and he will be dearly missed. Buddy is preceded in death by his parents Robert & Merle Wilson, His Wife, Mrs. Polly Wilson, 2 Brothers, Howard & Gus Wilson, 3 Sisters, Louis Taylor, Ida Santucci, Erma Diedrick.
Buddy is survived by his Son, Guy Wilson and his wife Anna of Valdosta, GA., 2 Daughters, Rachel Peery and her husband Arnett of Madison, MS. & Ciara Conn of Benton, MS. 1 Sister Bobbie Jordan of Greenville, MS., 6 Grandchildren, Wil Peery, Kuy Peery, Laila Peery, Rachel Conn, Mari-Max Wilson, Walker Wilson and Eva Wilson, and 1 Great Grand Daughter, Ally Grace Rogers.
Bro. John Pigg & Dennis Geiger will officiate the service.
