Funeral services for Jonah “J.L.” Brown, Jr., 89 years old of Greenville, MS will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, February 20, 2015 at First Baptist Church in the Chapel . He was called home to be with the Lord February 17, 2015 at his home. Visitation will be from 5:30-7:00 P.M. Thursday February 19, 2015 at Smith Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the Greenville City Cemetery.

J.L. was born August 04, 1925 in Linn, MS to Jonah Sr.& Kathryn Brown . At the age of 13 he moved to French Camp, MS, where he attended school and Graduated from French Camp Academy. After High School J.L went on to join The United States Navy in 1942. He served during WWII. After being Honorably Discharged in 1945. J.L. was the owner & operator of Brown Roofing & Sheet Metal. He was the member of the First Baptist Church, V.F.W., American Legion, Elks Lodge & the Yacht Club. J.L.’s inherent kindness was evident to everyone he met, and he dedicated his life to making Mississippi a better place to live for his family and friends. J.L. was a man of integrity who loved God, family and friends. His kindness and dedication to his principles were models we should all strive toward, and he will be dearly missed. J.L. is preceded in death by his parents Jonah Sr. & Kathryn Brown, His Wife, Mrs. Elizabeth “Libby” Lamastus Brown,

J.L. is survived by his 1Son, Mike Brown and his wife Julie of Greenville, MS., 1 Daughter, Sheryl Blackburn and her husband Jacky of Saltillo, MS., 1 Special Friend Carolyn Hood of Greenville, MS., 3 Grandchildren, Monica Kelly and her husband Danny of Madison, MS., LTC, Michael Brown Jr. and his wife Claudia of Crestview, FL
Jennifer Hammons and her husband Josh of Greenville, MS., 6 Great Grandchildren, Reed Kelly, Max Kelly, Mia Brown, Tyler Brown, Hayden Hammons, Lucas Hammons.


In lieu of flowers the family requested all donations be made to the French Camp Academy or the charity of your choice.
