Memorial service for Marvin Jasper Cotton Jr., 76 years old of Greenville, MS. will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday Jan 25, 2014 at Smith Funeral Home. He died Monday Jan. 20, 2014 after a brief illness in Greenville. Family will receive friends from 9:00 A.M. Saturday at Smith Funeral Home.
Marvin was born May 23, 1937 in Leland, MS. to Marvin & Annie Cotton. He has been a life long resident of Greenville where he grew up and attended school. He retired as a welder from the Washington County Road Dept. Marvin loved his 3 wheel motorcycles, working on anything with a motor and was quick with his laughter. So many people will remember him for his sense of humor, and he was always telling jokes. He was also known as “Shorty”, “JR.”, and “Motorcycle Man”. He attended temple Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin & Annie Cotton & 2 sisters, Linda Cotton Aderholt and Johnnie Bowen & his brother, Gene Cotton.
He is survived by 5 children, Gail Austin of Tupelo, MS, Mike Cotton of Orlando, FL., Sherri McCain (Mike) of Tupelo, MS., Tommy Cotton (Linda) of Kingsland, GA. & Derrick Cotton (Lindsey) of Greenville, MS., 2 sisters Joyce Jenkins and her husband Ray of Leland, MS., Janice Wright and her husband Gerald of Greenville, MS.
