Funeral services for James “Jerry” Childress, 69 years old of Greenville, MS, formally of Leland, MS will be 2:00 P.M., Sunday January 11, 2015 at Smith Funeral Home. He was called home to be with the Lord January 8, 2015 in Jackson; MS. Visitation will be from 1-2 P.M. Sunday January 11, 2015 at Smith Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the Green lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Jerry was born February 24, 1945 to Milton & Jewel Childress in Oxford, MS, When Jerry was a child his family moved to Leland, MS where he attended School. Jerry was the owner of Childress Auto Repair, in which he was a mechanic and serviced the Leland & surrounding areas for over 30 years. He was a member of the Top Ten Conservation League of Vaiden, MS, for many years. Jerry was an avid hunter who loved to fish and spend time outdoors. Jerry was a good charismatic man who lived his life to the fullest, and made an impact on a lot of people’s lives he came in contact with. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Milton & Jewel Childress, 1 Sister, Carol Childress.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife Bobbie Childress of Greenville, MS., 3 Sons, Buddy Childress, Phillip Childress, and Glenn Smith. Jr., 2 Daughters, Priscilla Childress, Rebecca Steele and her husband Charlie., 1 Brother, Larry Childress and his wife Vicki of Vicksburg, MS., 2 Sisters, Rita Sheldon & Charlene Childress. As well as 8 Grand Children.
